How to Fix Slow Updates and Upgrades on Kali Linux

Hello friends, in this article I will share about how to deal with slow updates / upgrades, this is because the bandwidth of the default Kali Linux repository is small so that's why it's slow, so if you want to be fast you have to replace the repository, no Don't worry, because this repository is also Kali Linux's repository, let's just see how.

How to fix slow updates and upgrades on Kali Linux

  • The first step is to edit or change the repository file with the command:

gedit /etc/apt/source.list

  • Once open we change the words "http" to "repo"
  • When finished editing, don't forget to save it
  •  As usual, after editing the file system, don't forget to update it with the command

apt-get update

  • After the update is complete, try to upgrade, for sure the download speed will feel the difference

Suppose you are linux users other than Kali linux, you can still use the same repository as me or you can also use a local Indonesian repository like goatui.ac.id you can use the repository, obviously the speed will be fast because only using local Indonesian connections do not use international connection. Oh yes, to edit the repository file you don't have to use the gedit command, you can use nano, vim, leafpad, just use your favorite text editor.
